Asleep in the Rain

Asleep in the rain,
in the middle of a small park
comforted with blankets of water
and the cold sweat of spirits

body numb with heat from
my belly
I don't know what I ate
that lead me
to sink and surrender
to an afternoon storm

posited as dream in the elements
of eucalypts, the playgroud
the sculpture and the toilet block

my shivers unsensed
the jaw clenched a lock
to surviving the downpour

knocked out enough to
not seek shelter

my woolen jumper
sopping
my hair like a used mop
and a short lived
pneumonia visiting
by my bare feet.
