Poetry: Summer is A-comin' In by Ariel Riveros

I praise god and then the tractor and then the efficacy of logistics and then truckin' (and singlets) and then mechanics. And then time chains and plush interiors. We are at Versailles, bubbly at your end and snuff at mine. we don't talk about fireworks because that's when we fart in these pristine gardens. I defer about efficacy except for us and the hundred babies wish you never mention. The sun has risen and we're still proclaiming how gorgeous the wandering giraffe in the garden is. What a great idea! Blue tongues. And the party is still going and Andre (who was dressed up as a brown bear) in synthetic furs was just lopped in two by Emilie with this really cool horizontal guillotine that has a laser mode that can burn a spinal cord but we won't test it on the giraffe unless we get our favourite sous chef lawyer who sneers delightfully though I love you so much.
