Laryngeal Pool - poem by Ariel Riveros

Clines repeated
water layers seep murmurate
lap over lap
overlaps with web feet

plunge arm splade and lap
centre of gravity
bucket core motion
drops spilt not
centrifugue
kicking wave

they swim

and every ken

and canning plant

rivet click

embossed with

assembly line

numbers expropriated

for algebra

and embodied

butterfly transfer

Vicarious caring
swallowing a mouthful
of seawater and lip-reading

A handy patois always in reserve

in the deep end

and synchronised sweating

pinch cruelty that would leave convent piano lessons envious

And rising underwater

the body as the skipping

of pebbles the drop,

down to up

Grassroot ascent
subspace source
to the ripple.

"20 to 5" emerged earliery

4:40. Point so lost it's not even

4:04. Clicking it. PBs

"February" as scare quote because
there must be a diachronised swimming.
An analogy or metonymy that
has a jelly referent. Nothing.

Every lane

roped or chalked

painted and closed

neat isometric

domesticated and feeling

sore and sorry for yourself

Isotonic (an ed.)

The tadpoles

salamanders

every concealer

idle dagger

in throat pond

Your genome

is my vocal surf

report.

Turbulence, stimulants.
In me like an amniotic

stranger. Supervenienting alienality.
Cyclonic felt impossibilities.
Wherever you lose your cool
and breath, your pistol
whip exertion rise and crash

Like in "television" but that is my sour screen.
I hear you and speak you from that.
