Poverty
the expectation that
one enjoys all circumstance
the swap meets in a half light
of a dog's hours
without their owner
in a reservoir
walkers, or trespassers
look at trees
note the cold music
of waters, the pause
of ambiguous wildlife
one truth applicable universally
is that things could be worse
receipts in pocket

disinfectant, 1 sml cotton pk
the shopkeeper sang to himself
and a man with an umbrella
waited to be served
holding a pack of chips
and the day's newspaper
everything else was a reservoir
even the unimagined slips
on the carved out pathway
and the walkers in a reservoir
are enjoying themselves
as much as I am
the balance of this is certain
it doesn't warrant much thought
because you are striding
next to that other person
and your figure is visible
from my house in the country.
